Rehearsals
Rehearsals are on Tuesday evenings at 7.30-9.30pm. Rehearsals are currently held in the Canongate Kirk on the Royal Mile. We generally rehearse only during school term time, with some extra rehearsals in the concert week. Members are expected to attend all rehearsals; exceptions are at the discretion of the Musical Director.Subscriptions
Subscriptions are currently £15 per concert, but exceptions can be made.Music
All music is provided and the cost covered by subscriptions.Publicity
We organise our own publicity and share responsibility for distributing flyers and selling tickets.Social
We are a very friendly and sociable choir. A significant number of us go to the pub after rehearsals each week. After each concert we have drinks with the audience in the venue, followed by a party for choir and friends. In the past few years, we have had several excellent rehearsal weekends away, staying in hostels and combining singing with eating, drinking and walking. In July 2005 we spent a long weekend on Iona and gave a concert in Iona Abbey. Non-singing partners and families of members join us for all social aspects of the choir.Join Us
Entry to the choir is by an informal audition. Our members have a wide range of experience of singing in choirs and at least a reasonable level of sight-reading. Anyone interested in becoming a member is welcome to join us for a rehearsal.
